The record ‘Break Up’ is released on September 07 and sees contributions from guitarist Robert Francis, bassist Giuseppe Patane and violinist Amir Yaghmai. Produced by Sunny Levine, Max Goldblatt and Peter Yorn himself, the nine track record includes songs ‘I Don’t Know What To Do’ and ‘Search Your Heart’. Mani from the Stone Roses has spoken out, claiming that the band’s debut album is still better than most current bands’ offerings.

The group re-issued the 20 year old record last week and it reached number five in the charts on Sunday (August 16)– causing Mani to react by criticising the state of the music scene.

He said: “A classic album that is still relevant to the kids of today deserves its recognition eventually.

“20 years on and it is still fresh and stands out amidst a torrent of mediocrity, career orientated, dull as dishwater, safe, unimaginative music that dares to challenge for our crown.”

The bassist added: “We were light years ahead of our time, and the Stone Roses album will always remain light years ahead of the new so called supergroups. Read ’em and weep guys, you all know who you are!”

The group have also announced that a film John Leckie made during the recording of the album can be seen on their website.

Muse are set to head home for two gigs to be held in Teignmouth – the Devonshire town the band come from.

Tickets for the gigs on September 04 and 05 on Teignmouth’s Den will go on sale on Friday (August 21), after the local council gave the shows the go ahead.

Bassist Chris Wolstenholme told the Herald Express: “The Teignmouth concerts are going to be a very proud moment for us — it is something we have wanted to do for a long time.”

Muse often go home to Teignmouth, opening a £3million arts centre in 2004 and rehearsing for their 2003 world tour in the local college.

The gigs will be a chance for the band to warm up before their ten week American and European tour.

A Fistful Of Fandango festival has announced that this year’s line-up will include Herman Dune, Future of the Left and Art Brut.

The gigs will take place over four nights in September at 229 on Great Portland Street.

Also on the bill are Eugene McGuinness and Pete and the Pirates.

The festival is run by the organisers of the Fandango club night which has seen the likes of Coldplay, Kasabian and Bloc Party play since it started 15 years ago.

U2 have hit back at critics of their tour’s carbon footprint.

Environmentalists recently argued that the gigs have the same effect on the world as flying the 90,000 fans with tickets to the Wembley leg of their tour to Dublin.

Other critics claimed that U2 will emit three times more carbon than Madonna did during her 2006 string of dates.

But The Edge told BBC 6Music: “I think it’s probably unfair to single out rock ‘n’ roll.

“There’s many other things that are in the same category but as it happens we have a programme to offset whatever carbon footprint we have.”

Environmentalists and local residents joined together in July to protest outside Dublin’s Croke Park stadium about the tour.

The group are set to headline the events during the bank holiday weekend (August 28-30).

Greenwood also announced that the band are giving away song ‘These Twisted Words’ for free.

The track can be downloaded via a link on Radiohead’s blog.

He wrote on the site: “We’ve been recording for a while, and this was one of the first we finished. We’re pretty proud of it.

“There’s other stuff in various states of completion, but this is one we’ve been practicing, and which we’ll probably play at this summer’s concerts. Hope you like it.”

However, Greenwood did not confirm or deny the rumours of a new Radiohead EP that fans had thought might be released today.

The shot of his class at Joseph Williams School in Liverpool in 1952 shows McCartney stood in the back row, reading a comic. The photo, which was previously unseen, was taken into The Beatles Shop near the Cavern Club in Liverpool A school photo of Ringo Star and a lithograph for the song ‘Yesterday’ will also be up for sale. Manager at The Beatles shop, Stephen Bailey told the BBC: "This is our 19th annual memorabilia auction and you would have possibly thought that the Crown Jewels would have long since been found and sold but that is just not the case.
