I received an email last week from an old college friend, with a link to the Souncloud page of Liam Hayes & Plush, and an amused/irate message along the lines of, "One of your two jobs in life was meant to be to flag me when he releases anything/makes any move out of his lair."
The reunited Beach Boys' new concert DVD is reviewed in the latest issue of Uncut (dated January 2013, out now) – so it seemed like a good time to revisit this fascinating piece from our October 2006 issue (Take 113). We were talking to Wilson, primarily, to discuss the 40th anniversary of Pet Sounds, reissued in deluxe format that month. Legendary lyricist Hal David has died at the age of 91.
David passed away yesterday (September 1) following complications from a stroke at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, reports Rolling Stone.
David was Burt Bacharach's songwriting partner and wrote the lyrics for such classic tracks as "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head", "I'll Never Fall In Love Again", "Do You Know The Way To San Jose", "Walk On By", "What The World Needs Now Is Love", "I Say A Little Prayer" and "(There's) Always Something There To Remind Me".
