Coming into work on the bus this morning, it occurred to me that the Christopher Nolan film I most wanted to watch again was Insomnia. I remember it being the least tricksy of Nolan’s films; a sharp, intelligent thriller, heavy on style and atmosphere, which seemed less concerned with the kind of ingenious puzzles and narrative twists that the director deployed in Memento, The Prestige and Inception.

New Soundgarden album “probably October”

Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell has revealed that the band's new album will "be out in probably October". Speaking to Rolling Stone, Cornell claimed the album will be mastered imminently. "I would say September but I'm just guessing October. We're pretty much done with everything." The album will be the Seattle group's first album since 1996's Down On The Upside. They recently released their first new track in 15 years, "Live To Rise", on the soundtrack for the film, Avengers Assemble.

It's a busy week for film. Marvel Comics' superhero team-up Avengers Assemble arrived in cinemas last night, while yesterday the inaugural three-day Sundance London Festival opened for business at the 02 Arena with a screening Under African Skies, a documentary about the making of Paul Simon's Graceland album.
