Boards Of Canada, “Tomorrow’s Harvest”: first listen

If, as internet speculation and promo footage imply, “Tomorrow’s Harvest” has a Cold War/atomic age subtext, Boards Of Canada’s focus is, as ever, long-range and aesthetic: less on the actual devastation wrought by nuclear weapons, more on nebulous creep and on the terrible beauty of a mushroom cloud when observed from a relatively safe distance. It’s a potentially glib way of toying with signifiers: Armageddon as nature documentary.

Glastonbury to become first UK festival with a dedicated 4G network

Glastonbury will become the first UK festival with its own dedicated 4G network, it has been confirmed. The festival has struck a deal with mobile service provider EE which will give fans attending the festival fast mobile internet speeds and allow for even quicker photo and video upload times. There will also be an official Glastonbury festival app, which will give festival goers updates from around the site and news alerts. Additionally, two large recharge tents will be built onsite with users of any mobile network able to charge their phones in between watching bands.

First Look – Led Zeppelin’s Celebration Day

Here’s Jimmy Page, reminiscing about Led Zeppelin’s 2007 reunion show at the 02. “We wanted to go out there, stand up and be counted,” he said at a press conference held earlier today in London. “To show people who maybe didn’t know Led Zeppelin but had heard a lot about us why we were what we were. And not only that, we had had a really good time that night. We made a lot of people very happy.”

The First Uncut Playlist Of 2009

Three days into a new working year, and I've put together the first office playlist of 2009. Usual rules apply, in that what we play isn't necessarily what we like - though that said, I can't spot any total stinkers among this 16.

February 2018

The new issue of Uncut, dated February 2018, is out on December 21, and features Britain’s great lost venues, Keith Richards, Buffalo Springfield and...
