Rough Trade announce comprehensive 60 track compilation album

Rough Trade Shops is releasing a compilation album of the best music released by the indie label over the past 40 years. Entitled Recorded At The Automat: The Best of Rough Trade Records, the album, which is released March 23, will cover the early years of Rough Trade, when Geoff Travis first started the label in 1978, later to be joined by Jeannette Lee. It includes the likes of Swell Maps, Robert Wyatt, The Fall, The Raincoats, The Smiths, The Strokes, the Libertines, Arcade Fire and Sufjan Stevens.

The Fifth Uncut Playlist Of 2014

This week’s excuse for briskness is I have a longish review of Real Estate to write for the mag, but some good news in here: not least the appearance of a mighty stash of Fela Kuti albums on Bandcamp and some predictably weird mixtapes, compiled by John Fahey, fetching up on Soundcloud.

The Third Uncut Playlist Of 2014

A week of revelations here, I suppose, since a bunch of albums that I’ve had to strategically redact from recent lists, until they’re formally announced, can now be identified and previewed. Please note, then, the appearance of new albums by Damon Albarn, Elbow and Real Estate among the 20-odd things below. The Real Estate is especially fantastic – more like Felt and The Feelies than ever, maybe – and I’ll try and write something more extensive about it in the next week or so.

The 10th Uncut Playlist Of 2011

A nice list again this week, with a terrific new White Denim album arriving late yesterday afternoon.

The Ninth Uncut Playlist Of 2011

After whingeing about the last couple of playlists, I think there’s a lot more good stuff arrived for this week’s effort.

The Seventh Uncut Playlist Of 2011

I was hoping to include the new Wild Beasts album, “Smother”, in this week’s rundown, but it doesn’t seem to have turned up yet. Today, hopefully.
