Arctic Monkeys' cover of The Beatles' 'Come Together' is racing up the singles chart. The track – which featured as part of Danny Boyle's four-hour Olympic Opening Ceremony extravaganza on Friday – has climbed to Number 14 in the iTunes download chart. "Caliban's Dream" – the Underworld-penned track sung by Two Door Cinema Club frontman Alex Trimble is currently at Number Five.

Ringo Starr’s birthplace saved from demolition

Ringo Starr's birthplace has been saved from demolition, according to UK Housing Minister Grant Shapps. The Beatles drummer's former home will not be knocked down by Liverpool City Council as part of their plans to regenerate the Welsh Streets area of the city, and it will now be refurbished. According to the BBC, the house on 9 Madryn Street, in Dingle, is one of 16 on the street spared from the bulldozer; although 400 homes in the area will be pulled down.

Ringo Starr to write soundtrack for Hollywood musical

Ringo Starr is to write the soundtrack for a new Hollywood musical, according to Deadline.com. Starr will collaborate with former Eurythmics'Dave Stewart on Hole In The Fence, a coming of age story about a group of kids who form a band in a mining town. Starr and Stewart came up with the idea and will act as both executive producers and songwriters for the film.
