Arctic Monkeys set to score Top 20 hit with their cover of The Beatles’ ‘Come Together’

Arctic Monkeys look set to chart in the Top 20 with their cover of The Beatles' "Come Together" this weekend. The band performed the track at the Olympic Opening Ceremony on Friday (July 27) and are set to take the Number 19 spot in Sunday's (August 5) Official UK Singles Chart, according to the Official Charts Company. Meanwhile, Florence And The Machine look set to lose the Number One spot to Wiley's "Heatwave". The other only high new entry is set to come from Underworld's Olympics track 'Caliban's Dream', which is set to land at Number Seven.

PJ Harvey, Jonny Greenwood, Kate Bush receive Ivor Novello Award nominations

PJ Harvey, Kate Bush and Adele have landed nominations for best album at next month's Ivor Novello awards, the first time that all the nods in the Best Album category are for women. Two of Adele's tracks, "Rolling In The Deep" and "Someone Like You" are up for the Most Performed Work award, while she will battle it out with Florence And The Machine and Ed Sheeran for Best Song.

Jack White confirms a second summer festival appearance

Jack White has confirmed his second European solo appearance of this summer. The former White Stripes man will play Belgium's Rock Werchter festival, which takes place in Rotselaar from June 28 – July 1. Also confirmed to play at the Belgium event are Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Florence And The Machine, Justice, The Cure, Elbow and Snow Patrol.

When I went off on my annual start-of-year rant about hotly-tipped new bands in January (and Lord, I’ve been forced to rethink my opinions about Florence And The Machine after seeing her shocking performance with Glasvegas at the NME Awards), I mentioned that, in the midst of so much electropop, “Maybe even Peaches might get a bit more love as the result of all this, which would be great.”
