The Wild Mercury Sound Best 143 Albums Of 2013

OK, I’ve managed to remember 143 albums that came out this year and that I liked. As in previous years, I didn’t see much point in hacking my list down to a Top 100, or Top 50, or whatever. While it’d be a stretch to claim every one is an imperishable classic, I do feel broadly confident recommending them all.

The 26th Uncut Playlist Of 2013

A couple of days late this week, thanks to an epic proofreading job on the next Uncut Ultimate Music Guide; this one’s on the subject of Depeche Mode, and will be in UK shops on the last day of July.

Around this time in 2012, I came up with 40 records, released between January and June, that I liked enough to include in a six-month Best-Of list. Either I’m being more diligent, or less discerning, or else 2013 is shaping up to be a better year: as you can see, I’ve managed 67 here.

Patti Smith to perform at Green Man festival

Patti Smith has been added to the line-up for this year's Green Man Festival. Smith will headline a night of live music in the Far Out Tent on the Thursday night (August 15) of the festival that runs between August 15 and 18. Smith's appearance, the only UK festival she will be performing at this Summer, will see her join a bill that includes Jon Langford, Matt Berry and Manchester band Money.

Kraftwerk at Tate Modern, The Uncut Sessions 2013

There’s been a lot of excitement around the office over the last couple of weeks, with the imminent arrival of the first David Bowie album since what seems like the end of rationing causing a certain giddiness in the Uncut ranks, followed by the actual release of the long-promised new My Bloody Valentine album, a mere 22 years after Loveless.
