Queens Of The Stone Age confirm Mark Lanegan’s appearance on new album

Queens Of The Stone Age have confirmed that Mark Lanegan will be singing on their forthcoming new album. The band took to Facebook to reveal the news, writing: 'Lanegan came by. He didn't say much, but he sang good.' This means that the classic line-up of Songs For The Deaf era Queens Of The Stone Age will be appearing on the record, as Dave Grohl will be drumming on the album and the band's former bassist Nick Oliveri has also been recording with the group again.

Josh Homme has said that the songs he has recorded with Dave Grohl for the new Queens Of The Stone Age album "sound like running in a dream". The frontman, who recruited Grohl to play drums on the album after Joey Castillo left the band, was speaking to Zane Lowe as part of an interview broadcast on Radio 1 this week and opened up on how the new album sessions are going. Speaking to the DJ, Homme said: "I think this record is a little more lyrically vulnerable, but I also think it's sort of musically deeper and richer, and it's a little bit stranger."

Nick Oliveri reunites with Queens Of The Stone Age

Former Queens Of The Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri has apparently teamed up with his old band to help out with their forthcoming new album. Oliveri was fired from Queens Of The Stone Age in 2004 after allegations of domestic violence, but it was revealed earlier today (November 28) – via the Facebook page for Oliveri's band Mondo Generator – that he has recorded vocals for a new QOTSA song. Trent Reznor has revealed that he is working on a song for the forthcoming new Queens Of The Stone Age album. The Nine Inch Nails man broke the news earlier today on Reddit, saying that one of his current projects was: "helping Josh out on a new QOTSA track". Dave Grohl will also be lending a hand on the sixth Queens Of The Stone Age LP. The Foo Fighters frontman is filling in for drummer Joey Castillo, who has left the band according to Homme.

Speaking to NME, Josh Homme's Eagles Of Death Metal bandmate added that the material he's heard from the follow-up to 2007's Era Vulgaris is "really cool". Hughes said: "The shit I've heard from the new Queens album is so badass. It's really cool. It's the kinda shit that makes John Holmes [legendary porn star] have a bigger dick and he's dead, so that's pretty rad."
