Hop Farm festival to return in 2014

Hop Farm Festival is set to return next summer, despite being called off this year because of poor ticket sales and going into administration following the 2012 event.

Neil Young played an acoustic set at Farm Aid 2013 on Saturday night (September 21). The event, which took place in Saratoga Springs, New York, also included Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp as well as Pegi Young and The Survivors, who included her husband Neil in their line-up.

Hop Farm Festival cancelled

Hop Farm Festival has been cancelled. The festival was due to take place over the weekend of July 5 - 6 at Paddock Wood, Tonbridge, Kent. In a statement promoter Vince Power said: “After reviewing the ticket sales on Hop Farm and the predicted final figures the festival would suffer unsustainable losses so therefore, as from today, it is with great sadness I am announcing the cancelation of the festival.

Hop Farm festival organisers call in administrators

The company behind Hop Farm and Benicassim festivals is preparing to go into administration. Shares in Vince Power's ailing Music Festivals company were worth 66.5p last June, valuing the company at £10m, but they were suspended at just 2.12p on Friday (September 21), making the company worth just £310,000, The Guardian reports.

When Bob Dylan played Hop Farm in 2010, it was the hottest weekend of the year and there seemed to be more people at the festival than the site could hold. There were queues for everything and queues to join those queues were not uncommon. By early afternoon, you could barely move for the people already there and the constant stream of new arrivals who added to an already considerable mass.

Ray Davies joins Hop Farm Festival bill

Ray Davies has been announced as the latest addition to the line-up for this year's Hop Farm Festival. The festival, which will be headlined by Bob Dylan, Suede and Peter Gabriel, takes place in Paddock Wood in Kent from June 29 – July 1. Other new additions to the bill include Richard Ashcroft. It will be Ashcroft's only UK appearance of the year.
