Aw boo, it's over for another year, but hey wasn't it great mud-sliding fun! The Who closed the world's biggest music festival with a resounding greatest hits set, as the rain pounded down for one final time, it certainly didnt dampen Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey's spirits.
Aw boo, it’s over for another year, but hey wasn’t it great mud-sliding fun!
The Who closed the world’s biggest music festival with a resounding greatest hits set, as the rain pounded down for one final time, it certainly didnt dampen Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey‘s spirits.
Having just headlined the Knowsley Hall event up in Liverpool the previous night, we knew that Townshend and Daltrey are on tip top live form, and on Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage for the closing night, they certainly didn’t disapopint.
In the pouring rain, the rock veterans played through their greatest hits, including: ‘Who Are You‘, ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again‘ and ‘Pinball Wizard.’
The band who have never played the Glastonbury festival before, despite consistent rumours in the late 60s and early 70s, thanked fans at the end of their show last night. Guitarist Townshend told the wet audience: “We waited a long time to come here. We are so pleased to be here. Thanks for sticking with us.”
Roger Daltrey added: “It maybe muddy, it maybe wet but you have been fantastic. Thank you Glastonbury.”
The Who played:
‘I Can’t Explain’
‘Anyway Anyhow Anywhere’
‘Who Are You’
‘Behind Blue Eyes’
‘You Better You Bet’
‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’
‘The Kids Are Alright’
‘See Me Feel Me’
‘Listening To You’
‘Tea And Theatre’
And so Glastonbury is over for another year. I hazard a guess that at least 20,000 pairs of wellies have been abandoned on site, too heavy, too dirty to contemplate bringing home.
Washing machines will be on full spin cycles and eyes can now glaze over with the already growing distant memories of 2007’s weekend down on Worthy Farm.
So what did you get up to? Did you see any crazy sights? What were your festival anthems? What was the best outfit you saw/ wore? Did you get married in the Lost Vagueness chapel?
Tell me what I missed out on… I’m dying to know what happened up in the fields I didnt make it to…
