Neil Young, Patti Smith, Alabama Shakes to play Bruce Springsteen tribute concert in Los Angeles

Neil Young, Patti Smith and Alabama Shakes will perform at a tribute to Bruce Springsteen in Los Angeles next month. The MusiCares show will take in LA on February 8, two days before this year's Grammy Awards and will also feature performances from Mumford And Sons, Elton John, Sting, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, John Legend and Tom Morello. Jackson Browne, Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks, Kenny Chesney and Juanes will also perform at the show. The gig is being hosted by The Daily Show comedian Jon Stewart.

Jack White angers fans with short New York gig

Jack White angered fans at his show at Radio City, New York last night (September 29) by ending his set after 1 hour. The former White Stripes man was playing the first of two nights at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall when he abruptly cut his set short, walking off stage an hour before his gigs have usually finished on his current tour. According to Buzzfeed, once fans realised White was not just talking an extra-long break before an encore set, the scene at the venue turned "ugly" and fans took to Twitter to vent their anger towards the singer.

David Gray angers residents as he reveals plan to turn Bob Dylan, Radiohead studio into flats

David Gray has angered residents in London's Crouch Hill after he announced that he is planning to turn historic recording studio The Church Studios into a block of flats and offices. The studio, which has hosted sessions by the likes of Bob Dylan, My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead, Kaiser Chiefs and Bombay Bicycle Club, is a converted church and was originally owned by Eurythmics' Dave Stewart before he sold it to Gray in 2003.

Throughout August, American record label Kill Rock Stars are making available previously unreleased tracks by singer/songwriter Elliott Smith. The label has already released outtakes of "Punch And Judy" and "Alameda", and have now issued an alternative version of "Angeles", from Smith's 1997 album, Either/Or. Experts call for change to industry guidelines following Radiohead stage collapse tragedy

Industry veteran Lars Brogaard has called for a fundamental change to stage erection guidelines following this month's fatal stage collapse at a Radiohead concert in Toronto. Brogaard, who has been production manager for Rod Stewart since 1985, recommended that the use of steel roofs should become an industry standard.
