Iggy Pop to deliver 2014 John Peel Lecture

Iggy Pop will deliver this year's John Peel lecture, it has been announced. The singer, who hosts a Sunday afternoon show on BBC Radio 6 Music, will deliver a speech titled 'Free Music in a Capitalist Society' which will be broadcast on 6Music live on Monday, October 13 and will later be shown on BBC Four on October 19.

The Stooges recording new album without Iggy Pop

The Stooges are recording an album of material without Iggy Pop. The line-up of James Williamson, Mike Watt, Steve Mackay and Toby Dammit are working on an album, Re-Licked, with a series of guest vocalists including Mark Lanegan and Jello Biafra.

Iggy Pop unveiled new material from his forthcoming album 'Ready To Die' (March 13) at Mohawk Outdoor at SXSW in Austin, Texas. As well as airing classic tracks 'Raw Power', 'Fun House' and 'I Wanna Be Your Dog', the tiny show saw Iggy and The Stooges playing material from their forthcoming new album, 'Ready To Die', live for the first time. Iggy calling the performances of the material "world premieres".

David Bowie and Iggy Pop's Berlin years are set to be made into a big-screen biopic titled 'Lust For Life'. The pair's legendary collaborative years in 1970s West Berlin, which led to Bowie's trilogy of albums 'Low', 'Heroes' and 'Lodger' and Pop's 'The Idiot' and 'Lust For Life' will be captured in the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A host of musicians are set to feature on a pirate themed compilation album, called Son Of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys. The album is being put together by Johnny Depp, director Gore Verbinski and producer Hal Willner and follows their similar 2006 effort, Rogue's Gallery.
