The Rolling Stones on our minds a lot this week, with the Keith Richards book finally out (please have a look at Allan’s immense review in the new Uncut), and a pile of page proofs from our forthcoming Rolling Stones Ultimate Music Guide for me to read.
Consequently, we’ve been coming back a lot to the Stones, and especially to a couple of comparatively undervalued albums, “Goat’s Head Soup” and “Black And Blue”, which have become real office favourites. I do always skip “Cherry Oh Baby”, though.
Some really good action in the comments boxes this week; thanks to everyone for contributing, especially to the Hallogallo 2010 thread.
Also, while I’m repeatedly sanctimonious about avoiding too much negativity here, how about you all follow up my whingeing in the Jonny blog by listing the 2010 albums that’ve disappointed you most? Maybe we can get all the grumbling out of the way before we embark on compiling our albums of the year in a month or so?
On to this week’s playlist. One pricktease album we can’t talk about yet, a couple of dodgy things, some reissues, a new Arbouretum and that Go Team record that keeps coming back, even though it again sounds in places like a Big Beat Belle & Sebastian. Takes all sorts, as ever…
