The perfect Glastonbury band?

I’ve been thinking these past couple of days about the dubious furore that has been brewing around Jay-Z’s headline slot at Glastonbury, thanks in part to Noel Gallagher weighing in on the subject last week. There are a lot of issues about non-exclusivity, festival overkill, pervading fear of mud and so on that have impacted on Glasto ticket sales this year, which I can’t really be bothered to rehash here. What does interest me, though, is the perceived unsuitability of Jay-Z as a headliner of the festival. If he isn’t right for Glastonbury, then what is?

Pixies’ Black Francis on firing Kim Shattuck “it ain’t that big of a deal”

Last week, Kim Shattuck expressed "shock" at being fired from Pixies. Shattuck's replacement is Paz Lenchatin, who has previously played with Zwan and A Perfect Circle. Speaking to Yahoo, Black Francis has spoken about the hirings and firings.

Pixies name Paz Lenchatin as new bassist

Pixies have confirmed that bassist Paz Lenchatin, will replace Kim Shattuck for a series of live dates in America and Europe next year. Last week Shattuck revealed that her time playing with the band had come to an end. She, herself, was a replacement for original Pixies bassist Kim Deal who departed the band prior to the release of the group's 'EP1' earlier this year. Lenchatin has previously played with Billy Corgan's Zwan as well as A Perfect Circle and The Entrance Band.
