Damon Albarn: “New Blur album may just be one of those records that never comes out”

Damon Albarn has said that Blur may never finish the album they began working on in 2013. Albarn recorded new music with his Blur bandmates in Hong Kong in May last year. However, in an interview published in this week's NME which is on newsstands tomorrow (July 30) and available digitally, Albarn says that because he likes to work in shorter, more concentrated periods of time he fears that he may never return to the tracks the band made while in Asia.

This month in Uncut

Robert Plant, Tom Petty, King Crimson and Bobby Womack all feature in the new issue of Uncut, dated September 2014 (Take 208) and out tomorrow (July 29). We track Plant, on the cover, from the Welsh Marches to the nightclubs of Paris to hear about bee colonies, mountain lions, altercations with Moroccan traffic cops, Bron-Yr-Aur, Jimmy Page, and Plant's extraordinary new solo album.

The 28th Uncut Playlist Of 2014

There's a song on this new Purling Hiss album, playing again now, that sounds more or less like "Debaser" played by Dinosaur Jr. Along with the intensely spirited debut by Mary Timony's Ex-Hex and a comp of the pre-Beachwood Sparks, Sebadoh-indebted Further, it feels a little like College Rock revisited week. Deep late '80s/early '90s vibes, good times etc.

The 27th Uncut Playlist Of 2014

A bit of a manic week, for various reasons, not least the fact that we've finished two magazines: the next issue of Uncut, which should be coming your way on July 29; and an Ultimate Music Guide dedicated to the genius of…

Creedence Clearwater Revival – the full story, by John Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford

John Fogerty is out on an extensive tour of the US right now, so it seems a good time to dip into the archives and remind ourselves of this great feature from Uncut’s February 2012 issue (177). At the dawn of the ’70s, Creedence Clearwater Revival were the biggest band in the world – a brilliant and driven hit machine with deep roots in American tradition. By 1972, though, it was all over, and the ex-bandmates embarked on a bitter war that still continues, 40 years later.

Watch Neil Young & Crazy Horse perform new song, “Who’s Gonna Stand Up And Save The Earth?”

Neil Young & Crazy Horse have debuted a new song, "Who's Gonna Stand Up And Save The Earth?", on their current European tour dates. The song first emerged in the set in Reykjavík on July 7. You can watch the band perform the song live in Cork, Ireland last night [July 10].

Jeff Tweedy interviewed: “This is the biological reason why Hell exists.”

I've been playing the new Jeff Tweedy album, "Sukierae", a good deal these past few weeks - or, I should say, the new Tweedy album, since these quietly wired tracks are, strictly speaking, collaborations between the Wilco man and his eldest son, Spencer. I'm slowly beginning to think it might be the best studio album he's been involved with since "A Ghost Is Born".
