Liam Gallager and Tim Burgess pay tribute to former Primal Scream guitatist Robert ‘Throb’ Young

Former Primal Scream guitarist Robert 'Throb' Young has died, according to reports. As yet, there has been no official statement regarding the circumstances of Young's death, but several figures close to the musician have posted messages of condolences on Twitter. Young, who met Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie when the two attended secondary school in Glasgow, was a pivotal member of the band and played on classic albums including 1991's 'Screamadelica' and 2000's 'XTRMNTR'. He left the band to go on sabbatical in 2006.

A track, "Nothing To It", has been released from the forthcoming Lost On The River: The New Basement Tapes project. The album features lyrics that Dylan wrote while recording the original Basement Tapes in 1967 that have been put to music by Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens (Carolina Chocolate Drops), Dawes' Taylor Goldsmith, Jim James, T Bone Burnett and Marcus Mumford. The first song from these sessions, "Nothing To It" is accompanied by an animated video that overlays abstract cartoons and Dylan's original hand-written lyrics.

Former Pearl Jam accountant sentenced to prison for embezzlement

Rickey C Goodrich, a former financial manager for Pearl Jam, has been sentenced to 14 months in jail, according to The Seattle Times. Goodrich, who pleaded guilty to theft charges in December, stole $380,000 dollars from the band from 2006 until he was fired in September 2010.

Black Flag’s Greg Ginn sues former bandmates

Black Flag co-founder Greg Ginn has filed a lawsuit against his former bandmates for alleged copyright infringement. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ginn believes the band FLAG, consisting of Keith Morris, Dez Cadena, Chuck Dukowski and Bill Stevenson, infringe on the Black Flag rights owned by him and his label SST Records. Former member Henry Rollins, who is in neither of the two touring Black Flag reunion groups, is also named in the suit.

Former HMV worker opens music store called HVM

A former HMV worker has opened a music store in Derry called HVM. Entertainment.ie reports that Tony Cregan has opened up the replacement shop after his branch of HMV closed down earlier this year. Cregan, who ran the Derry HMV, opened the new store after he got 15,000 signatures on a petition in order to save the original branch of the high street music store and saw a gap in the market. Of the store name, he commented: "We thought what is the point calling the new show Local CDs, or whatever, we'll just call it HVM. HMV is gone."
