Former DEVO drummer Alan Myers has died following a battle with cancer.
Ralph Carney, a former bandmate of Myers and uncle of The Black Keys' Patrick, shared the news on Facebook earlier this morning (June 26). "i just got some bad news," he wrote. "Alan Myers passed yesterday from cancer. he was Devo's best drummer and one of the first people to teach me about jazz. i cry.........."
Myers joined Devo in 1976 and drummed with the band for just under a decade, playing on their early hits including "Jocko Homo", "Working In The Coal Mine" and "Whip It".
Jimi Hendrix, Paul McCartney and Miles Davis came close to forming a supergroup, it has been revealed.
When Hendrix, Davis and Davis's drummer Tony Williams were planning to record an album together in 1969, backed by producer Alan Douglas, they sent a telegram to McCartney asking him to join them on bass.
The telegram, sent on October 22 1969, read: "We are recording and (sic) LP together this weekend. How about coming in to play bass stop call Alan Douglas 212-5812212. Peace Jimi Hendrix Miles Davis Tony Williams."
Several Beatles songs that have never before been performed before were given their live debut by Paul McCartney on the opening night of his world tour.
McCartney played "Your Mother Should Know", "Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite", "Lovely Rita" and "All Together Now" for the first time ever during the gig in Belo Horizone, Brazil on Saturday (May 4). You can watch fan-shot footage of the gig below.

Rolling Stone reports comments made by current Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh in Billboard. "Bernie's brilliant," says Walsh. "I never really got a chance to play with him, but we've been in contact. Lou Reed astounded a small group of 100 fan who had gathered to celebrate his 1972 album Transformer by making a personal appearance to listen to the album in its entirety.
The event, set up by website high50.com, took place on March 4 at New York's Soho House. Reed also took part in a discussion about the album's content and its wider cultural significance.
