I hope you had a good Bank Holiday break. I spent a very enjoyable chunk of it reading the new Carl Hiaasen novel – excuse the shameless self-promotion, but you can read an interview I did with Hiaasen over on my blog. But now we’re back in the office, and it’s my pleasure to introduce you all to the new issue of Uncut, which goes on sale tomorrow.
The Clash are to open a pop-up store in London.
Called Black Market Clash, the store will be open for two weeks from Saturday, September 7 to Sunday, September 22 2013 at 75 Berwick Street, Soho.
The store, which is art directed and curated by the band and Robert Gordon McHarg lll of The Subway Gallery, will contain a display of the group’s instruments, stage clothing, rare memorabilia and never-before-seen original manuscripts and artifacts from the band.
The three surviving members of The Clash's classic lineup are to come together for an exclusive BBC Radio 6 Music show next month (September).
Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Topper Headon will be interviewed by Cerys Matthews in front of an intimate audience of fans at the BBC's Maida Vale Studios in west London. During the course of the show, the trio will also take questions from the audience.
You find us at that time in the month when things start getting more than a wee bit hectic, deadlines fast approaching as we head into the final week or so of work on the new issue, for which I am reviewing Roy Harper’s Man & Myth, his first album of new material since The Green Man, 13 years ago. There’s also the small matter of next month’s cover story, which I’m also writing, which means it’s all go at the moment.
Paul Simonon has spoken about recording with Bob Dylan.

The Clash are to release a new box set featuring remastered versions of their first five albums, The Clash (1977), Give ‘Em Enough Rope (1978), London Calling (1979), Sandinista! (1980) and Combat Rock (1982).
This month’s issue of Uncut (September 2012, Take 184) features Joe Strummer on the cover – inside is an in-depth exploration of his secret history, after The Clash split up to his redemption in the late ’90s. To complement this, our archive feature this week finds Strummer looking at the demise of The Clash – from their epic Sandinista! album to their bitter disintegration.
