The Gene Clark No Other Band - featuring members of Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear, Beach House and Fairport Convention - have been announced as the third headliner for this year's End Of The Road festival.
They will join previously announced headliners The Flaming Lips and Wild Beasts at the festival, which runs from August 29 - 31 at Larmer Tree Gardens, Dorset.
Other acts confirmed today for this year's festival are: Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, St Vincent, tUnE-yArDs, Jenny Lewis, Felice Brothers and Black Lips.
Gene Vincent was the real deal and, together with his backing group The Blue Caps, fronted The First Gang In Town. With Cliff Gallup and later Johnny Meeks on lead guitar, they, as much as The Crickets and Chuck Berry, defined the sound of rock's classic three guitars and drums line-up.
Though originally pushed as Capitol's answer to Elvis, Gene wasn't nearly as orchestrated as the Memphis Flash.

After the early patronage of Howe Gelb, Oregon's Matt Ward dished up 2001's End Of Amnesia, one of the most breathtaking albums of recent years. Transfiguration...is another masterclass in deft guitar picking, smudged with piano, harmonica and a voice like honey drizzled onto a dry creekbed. The behind-a-screen-door quality of production adds to the strangeness, while the likes of "Undertaker" often stop, start, scuff around then veer off at a tangent. Somewhere between a Gelb bothering to finish off songs and The Band at their most bucolic.
