The Small Faces’ surviving members, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones, have taken us through the making of the group’s classic singles in the new issue of Uncut, out now.

The new issue of Uncut arrives in UK shops this Friday – though subscribers should hopefully find their copies plonking through the letter box a day or two early. Ian McLagan, the former keyboard player in the Faces has poured cold water on Rod Stewart’s recent claims that the band could be set for a reunion. Earlier this month the singer told Boston radio station WZLX: “Ronnie [Wood]'s office is talking to my people, and we're ear-marking 2015."

Rod Stewart has said that he will likely play with the Faces in 2015. Speaking to WZLX radio station in Boston, via The Guardian, Stewart said that plans to record an album with Jeff Beck had fallen through, but that he and Ronnie Wood were planning a Faces reunion for the year after next. He commented: "I think we have got much more of a chance of getting the Faces back together, in fact, Ronnie's office is talking to my people, and we're ear-marking 2015."

The Small Faces have confirmed details for their Here Comes The Nice The Immediate Years Boxset 1967-1969 deluxe collector's box set. The set contains 75 songs spread over 4 CDs remastered from original analogue master tapes and studio multitracks. Rare and previously unreleased material, unheard recording sessions from Olympic, IBC & Trident Studios, outtakes, early mixes, alternate versions and live material across 3CDs.

“We weren’t concerned with reputation then, and I’m not concerned with it now,” writes Ian McLagan in the introduction to our new Ultimate Music Guide. “If you’re thinking seriously about your career, you’re not having any fun, and that transfers to the audience.”

Rod Stewart says he is keen to reform The Faces with Ronnie Wood, and suggests a reunion could happen if and when The Rolling Stones decide to retire. The band previously reformed in 2009 for a one-off charity show with guest vocalists replacing the absent Rod Stewart, and also subsequent tours with Mick Hucknall on vocals. Stewart also missed the Faces and Small Faces induction into the Rock'n'Roll Hall Of Fame in 2012.

Killing Joke frontman Jaz Coleman has resurfaced after he was declared missing over two weeks ago. The veteran post-punkers, who released their 15th studio album 2012 earlier this year, posted a statement on July 31 on their official Facebook page saying that they were "concerned for Coleman's welfare" as they had not heard from him. However, Coleman has now resurfaced, revealing that he has been living a nomadic existence in the Western Sahara in Africa. He says he was surprised that "any fuss" was made over his disappearance.
