Morrissey To Headline Wireless Festival

Beck will also perform at ex-Smith's only UK outdoor appearance this year

Morrissey has been confirmed as a headline artist for this year’s O2 Wireless Festival in London’s Hyde Park this July.

The former Smiths frontman who is due to release a new solo album later this year, will perform on July 4, and it will be the controversial singer’s only UK festival appearance in 2008.

Morrissey has said his Wireless day will be “a thundering bill of tight nerves and suavity. I will take Hyde Park like a flea inhabits a dog.”

He added that “art hounds and people with badly cut hair” are welcome to attend the outdoor show, and that he promises to “do his utmost not to pull a sour face”.

Other artists confirmed for the three-stage event on July 4 are Beck and The National.

Morrissey joins previously announced headliners Fat Boy Slim (July 5) and Counting Crows (July 6).
