Beastie Boys sign deal to release book in 2015

Mike D and Ad-Rock have reportedly signed a deal to release their memoirs in 2015. The book comes following the two remaining members of the Beastie Boys signing a deal with Random House imprint, Spiegel & Grau. The New York Times reports that the book is currently untitled and that it is unlikely to follow the structure of a traditional biography, focusing instead on a "pastiche of voices, images, irreverent humor and pop-culture reference points".

Waterboys album Fisherman’s Blues honoured with box set, tour

The Waterboys will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Fisherman’s Blues with a box set of the album and a UK tour. Due for release on October 14, Fisherman’s Box will comprise a seven-disc set with 121 tracks from the album sessions, including 85 unreleased tracks. Mike Scott will be writing the liner notes with additional contributions from Decemberist Colin Meloy. The tour, which begins in December, will reunite Scott and Steve Wickham with Fisherman's-era members Anto Thistlethwaite and Trevor Hutchinson alongside current Waterboys drummer Ralph Salmins.

Beach Boys memorabilia to go on sale in London next month

Rare archive material documenting the first 20 years of The Beach Boys' career will go up for auction in London next month. The treasure trove was discovered in a storage facility in Florida in 2000, and is thought to be one of the biggest collections of music memorabilia to ever be put up for sale. It features manuscripts and sheet music for around 150 songs, recording contracts, previously unseen photographs and handwritten lyrics and letters.

Brian Wilson says ‘no’ to another Beach Boys reunion

Brian Wilson has said that he doubts there will be another reunion of The Beach Boys. Wilson was speaking on Sunday (February 10) at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. When asked about the possibility of a reunion - following last year's 50th anniversary tour dates and the release of a brand new album 'That's Why God Made The Radio' - Wilson told the press room: "No, I don't think so. Doubt it."

According to reports, Mike Love is to continue touring without Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks when the current 50th anniversary tour finishes at the end of this week. The line-up for future shows will instead consist of Love, Bruce Johnston along with their regular touring band. "As we move on, Bruce and I look forward to performing live for Beach Boys fans everywhere," Love said in a press release, also noting, "The 50th Reunion Tour was designed to be a set tour with a beginning and an end to mark a special 50-year milestone for the band."

The Beach Boys have said that they hope to record another new album to follow 'That's Why God Made the Radio', which was released earlier this year. The current line-up of Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks were speaking towards the end of their 50th anniversary tour last night (September 18) at a special evening launching a Beach Boys exhibition at The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.
