Usually dressed in denim dungarees, worn out baseball cap and a ZZ Top beard, it’s no stretch to imagine Seasick Steve living on the streets in the ‘60s. When he sings about hardship and sorrow you know it comes from real experience, some of which he shares in the interludes between songs. It’s impossible not to warm to him.
He plays the 12-bar blues at bone-cracking volume, using the classic tools of his calling: bottleneck, mic-ed up wooden box, bottle of bourbon next to his thumping foot. A must-see for any fans of Howlin’ Wolf.
