Nile Rodgers given all-clear from cancer

Nile Rodgers has been given the all clear from cancer; he was diagnosed with the disease in 2010.

Announcing his current test results on Twitter, he wrote: "Instead of showing gross internal video I'll show my doctor's fly examination room. I'M ALL CLEAR AGAIN!" However, Rogers later followed the tweet up with another one, which read: "I never celebrate much when I get an All Clear because in 6 months I'll go through the same drama." He added: "All clear is a lot better than the cancer has returned and it's spread."

Rodgers blogged about his experience with cancer after he was diagnosed in October 2010. He wrote: "Cancer is horrifying. It makes you think a lot. My ex-partner passed away and most people don’t realise many songs they sing along with every day he did. Maybe, I was just afraid of dying and feeling sorry for myself - cancer also makes you do that."

The musician also told the Official Charts Company this year that the success of his track "Get Lucky" with Daft Punk helped him overcome the disease. "I was facing life and death issues and then to get something so rewarding as a Number One record is pretty amazing," he said.

"I think this particular experience rates very high, because two years ago I was stricken with cancer just right out of the clear blue sky. And from that moment I decided I was going to work as much as I could, play as many concerts, do as many records, because that's what I live for."

The Fourth Uncut Playlist Of 2015

This week's big distraction has been what appears to be a crazy number of early Aphex Twin tracks accumulating on Soundcloud (I've added the link below). Among the new stuff, though, please try Bop English; the new solo project of James Petralli from White Denim.
