Willie Nelson created perfectly brilliant production-line country records for RCA but, as the cover art for albums like The Words Don't Fit The Picture suggested, he hadn't found his métier as a live performer. Writing fantastic songs had never been a problem, however, and this 1971 long-player took on an autobiographical slant in the guise of "Family Bible" and the epic road romp "Me And Paul", which fill the ground between a Christian upbringing and the joys of touring with cool drummer Paul English. Including "Remember The Good Times" and the standard-styled "December Day", Yesterday's Wine is one of the bridges Nelson crossed en route to megastardom.
