Aided by husband John Leventhal's arrangements, she spurns formula to find unerring fidelity to songs of heartbreak and maturity. Cash puts her experience to use on the slow-burning eroticism of the Earle-assisted "I'll Change For You", while the duet with her father and "Closer Than I Appear" match her pop roots with throbbing obsession and vengeance. A deeply felt and accomplished return.
