LFO first made an impact in 1990 with their eponymous single, their skinny electro-blips helping to define the then-fledgling Warp sound. Since then they've slimmed down to one member, Mark Bell, who's spent the last seven years working with Depeche Mode and Björk, among others. Sheath comprises a mix tape of tracks he hadn't even remembered making in the interim.

As a rule, the more breakneck the pace of these instrumentals, the less effective they are—the silly space invader tizzy of "Freak", for instance. However, opener "Blown" is gorgeous, distressed ambient techno, as is "Unafraid To Linger" and the limpid, Durutti Column-esque "Premacy".
