The success of Kings Of Convenience's remarkably Simon & Garfunkel-esque 2001 debut Quiet Is The New Loud had a dramatic effect on its authors. Sick of touring, guitarist/vocalist Eirek Glambek Bøe studied psychology at university. Inquisitive frontman Erlend Øye, meanwhile, blossomed into a disco dandy on the European party circuit, released a solo album, last year's Unrest, and learnt to DJ, hence this enjoyably idiosyncratic DJ Kicks mix set, on which Øye croons Bananarama and Pet Shop Boys hits over cool German techno and feel-good pop from Phoenix.

Bøe and Øye reunited earlier this year for Riot On An Empty Street, another bittersweet, finger-picked confection that shows their chemistry is still there. Perkier numbers like "I'd Rather Dance With You" pick up the pace, but this odd couple, as ever, are happiest harmonising about their hardship.
