Bob Dylan
Mark Ronson’s remix of the classic Bob Dylan track “Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I’ll Go Mine)” will have its global radio premiere on August 11. However, a snippet has been made available on Dylan's website already.

As might have been expected, Ronson has put the horn riff and the rolling breakbeat of the original to the forefront, making the "Blonde On Blonde" track sound more like a vintage soul tune (in the vein of his Amy Winehouse productions) and not the "hip hop" remix that many had anticipated.

Click here for Dylan07.com to hear the track.

It's worth noting, by the way, that “Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I’ll Go Mine)” is not strictly the first officially-sanctioned Dylan remix, contrary to all the pre-publicity. Italian hip-hoppers Articolo 31 cut up "Like A Rolling Stone" on the soundtrack to Dylan's "Masked And Anonymous" movie.

Ronson's effort, we think, is better than that, at least. Read one Uncut response at our daily Wild Mercury Sound blog.

But how do you feel about it? Is “Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I’ll Go Mine)” an inspired relaunch of the great man, or an unforgivable act of sacrilege? Let us know. . .

bloody awful

Hello,

I have been a Dylan - fan for some forty years ( a fan - not a freak, so no Weberman - like comments ), so maybe I have a right to say something about this remix.

Dylan is not a God, not even a good poet, he is just a song and dance man, who gave me some of the finest moments in my life, and I am really grateful for that.

The artist sometimes isnt the best judge of his own work, and if Dylan has approved of this mix, its a real shame.

Why fuck up a song thats already a ( very enjoyable ! ) mess ? Now its sounds like a very bad carnival tune, and I hope he doesnt spoil any other Dylan songs. One is more than enough.

Mostly Likely Refreshing ...

The new man has given the old man (Bob) a fresh appeal ... OK, it's not the wonderful original, but it is a revamp/remix/rebirth of a song that's been around a long, long time and I see no problem in taking something from the past and giving it a shake or 2. The original still exists .. it's there on the album if you want to hear that and it's still coming refreshed by Bob himself in concert. He gave approval for Ron's Retreatment - that's good enough for me

A lost opportunity ...

That about sums up my feelings now that you have kindly let us see the tracklist for the new Bob Dylan 3CD set ... why did they bother asking for our opinions on this thing? I already own two or three or maybe four greatest hits packages ... this one does not add that much to what been and gone. The people with the power to do something original have failed us and Bob quite badly ... it would have been good to have given us a live set of his greatest hits, or at least those that's he's taken out of the cupboard - and that's quite a few. He's a live performer, after all ... he's never been done criticising the end results of his recording sessions ... this or that song being never fully developed ... he tells us that the audience gets the real thing when they come to hear him play live ... Well, Bob, you had a chance to show us just how it's done ... the new box set surely doesn't. Too, too bad.
