SINGING FOR COHEN

Last night saw a supreme performance in tribute to Leonard Cohen.

Hal Willner's ”Came So Far For Beauty: An Evening of Leonard Cohen Songs” featured 24 major vocal stars, including Jarvis Cocker, Nick Cave, Lou Reed, Teddy Thompson and Mary Margaret O’Hara.

Hall Willner, one of the world's most visionary and original music producers, curated the programme of Cohen classics.

Whether jazz, rock, folk, electronica, blues or ballads performers, each artist brought their distinctive musical personality to bear on some of the finest songs of the past four decades.

The performance was a sell-out at the Point Theatre, Dublin.

“Came So Far For Beauty: An Evening of Leonard Cohen Songs" was originally commissioned in 2003 by the Celebrate Brooklyn Performing Arts Festival with support from the Canadian Consulate General New York.
