George Harrison To Be Star Of New Scorsese Documentary
[b]Martin Scorsese[/b] has confirmed he is to direct a documentary about the life of [b]George Harrison[/b].
The acclaimed director, whose documentary on [b]Bob Dylan[/b], [b]“No Direction Home”[/b], was released to critical acclaim in 2005, will also work with [b]Olivia Harrison[/b], who will act as a producer on the film.
[b]Scorsese[/b] is keen to focus on the spiritual aspects of [b]Harrison[/b]’s life, saying that the late [b]Beatle[/b]’s “music and his search for spiritual meaning is a story that still resonates today”.
The Oscar-winning director also told [b]Variety[/b] he was “looking forward to delving deeper”.
[b]Harrison[/b]’s widow [b]Olivia[/b] added: “It would have given [b]George[/b] great joy to know that [b]Martin Scorsese[/b] has agreed to tell his story.”
The guitarist died in 2001 from lung cancer which had spread to his brain.
[b]Scorsese[/b] is currently working on a concert film of [b]The Rolling Stones[/b], titled [b]“Shine A Light”[/b]. The film is set to be released in spring 2008.
