"He's like Hamlet, reflecting on his personal ghosts and demons, and while I don't know what [Cobain's] were, I'm imagining what they might have been," Van Sant told MTV. "It's pretty much his thing. He's alone."
The film also stars Asia Argento, Lukas Haas, Harmony Korine and Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon. Thurston Moore, Gordon's husband and fellow Youth member, is music consultant on the film.
Last Days receives its world premier at this year's Cannes Film Festival on May 13. It opens here in the UK on September 2.

I don't like Van Sant very much (I was very dissapointed with Elephant ), but trailer looks very good and promising. Pitt is really Cobain look-alike (but many blond guys with long hair are), and all seems pretty coool.
I am eagerly awaiting the movie.

Most things about Kurt's last days and even his last breathing moments are conjecture. Fictionalizing a once living human being can be revealing or rehash. The movie trailer seems heavy with low-lighted dramatic sequences and a guitar-strumming sound-alike singer in the background, I personally hoped for a more unique and honest treatment of the subject. And disturbingly, over time, fiction tends to run the risk of replacing fact in the collective memories of the public.
or
