Edinburgh Film Festival -- the pre-blog!

Michael Bonner

Tomorrow, I'm off to the Edinburgh Film Festival. I've got loads of fond memories of previous years -- many of them, I have to admit, caught up in Scotland's marvellous, forward-thinking policy towards pub opening times -- but this year's festival promises a bundle of fine films.

I'm particularly looking forward to seeing I'm A Cyborg But That's OK -- a rom-com as only Oldboy director Chan Park-wook can deliver -- Gus Van Sant's Paranoid Park, and something called Ex-Drummer, about three drug-addled, disabled punk rock musicians' search for a drummer.

There's a flavour on a previous Edinburgh blog of what else to expect this year.

Oh, and if I have time I'll slip off to the other festival to catch Nicholas Parsons' Happy Hour. As a huge fan of Radio 4's Just A Minute, I can't wait to see the great man live.

But, of course -- film comes first, and I'll be blogging at least once a day from tomorrow through to the weekend, about what I've seen, what parties I've blagged into, and all the latest news and gossip from the Royal Mile.
