Latitude 2009

Countdown to Latitude...The Rapture

THE RAPTURE

It would hardly be a festival without a dash of delirious dance music and NYC’s The Rapture fulfil that requirement brilliantly on Sunday in the Obelisk Arena. Initially they led the punk-funk vanguard with their mix of nervy guitar, rubbery bass, barked vocals and squawking sax, but latest album ‘Pieces Of The People We Love’ was a more adventurous, euphoric and abandoned affair.

It marked them out as post-house and electronica experimenters of the finest order and – encouraged by bass player/vocalist Matty Safer’s energetic bouncing – Latitude punters will be cutting rug quicker than you can say ‘nu disco’.

The Rapture play the Obelisk Arena on Sunday July 15. Latitude takes place July 12 - 15 at Henham Park, Southwold, Suffolk.
