More 2010 goodness this week, kicking off with the fierce new jams from Voice Of The Seven Woods, newly renamed. A glut of stoner spacerock here, actually, with the new White Hills album and a real find, Carlton Melton (thanks, Simon), who record in a geodesic dome in Mendocino County.

Looking forward to the VOT7W tracks and am looking forward to the couple that will be aired on Friday night at their gig with Six Organs! White Hills are fantatic and the 'Heads On Fire' record is highly recommended. Is the Jack Rose more traditional or is he experimenting again?

The Jack Rose is still fairly trad, but he stretches it a bit more than on Dr Ragtime and the Twig Pickers one. Sounded great on first listen.

How's that new Liars album? And you free to talk about Four Tet yet?

John, What do you make of Lucas Renney? Being from the same neck of the woods it's always interesting to hear how he fares elsewhere. On a similar note Field Music played two nights at the Cluny in Newcastle last weekend. I'm not sure what your thoughts on them are but it was fantastic, they now have a much beefier sound and they sounded much more up for it than previously.

Not really feeling the Lucas Renney sampler. Previously I've only really liked the Week That Was out of all the Field Music things, but I gave the new album another go earlier this afternoon and it made a bit more sense.

Can't wait to hear more about the new Four tet - always fascinating what Hebden gets up to. And have to agree with Cliff up there. Saw Field Music in Manchester and they were sublime.

I've not heard any of Lucas Renney's music since Golden Virgins but will give it a go nonetheless. I also preferred The Week That Was to theother Field Music stuff, but only once I saw it live, and I think the new songs make more sense once you've heard them live. My favourite of their albumns is actually Write Your Own History, the odds and sods collection.

Didn't like the EP myself. Also I think it's a bit weird to imply that 22-year-olds don't normally have much talent...
